The Neuromuscular and Biomechanical Dimension




Overview -

Level 1 provides an overview of the functions and dysfunctions of breathing and Dr. Courtney’s multidimensional model of dysfunctional breathing.

The course then focuses on the assessment and treatment of biomechanical and neuromuscular aspects of breathing dysfunction. These include breathing pattern disorders, mouth breathing, diaphragm dysfunction and their significance for disorders of posture, motor control, vocalization, muscular-skeletal pain (e.g. pelvic, spinal, shoulder, TMJ), malocclusion as well as for the function of the respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive and autonomic nervous system.
